Welcome
The Fiat Journal
Start writing…
Oh gosh. Where do I start?
They say that if you want to write, you should just start. I’ve been hearing this advice everywhere lately—applied not only to writing, but to life itself. If you feel a pull toward something, don’t wait until you feel ready. Begin where you are.
So this is me, beginning.
My name is Katie, and this is The Fiat Journal. It is a place to gather thoughts on beauty, home, faith, and the quiet ways our surroundings shape who we become. I wanted a simple place to write without urgency or performance—something closer to a journal than a brand, a space that allows ideas to unfold slowly.
I am a mother of four, expecting our fifth child in July 2026. Our days are full and often loud, marked by schedules, meals, and the steady rhythm of family life. In this season of waiting and preparing, I’ve felt a growing desire to pay closer attention—to notice what gives life, what brings peace, and what helps a home feel anchored rather than rushed.
Alongside this journal, I run an interior design studio called Fiat Design Co. Design has been a love of mine for as long as I can remember—architecture, art, fashion, and the shaping of spaces have always felt meaningful to me. Over time, and through prayer, this work has taken on deeper significance. The name Fiat reflects the posture I hope to bring to it: receptivity, care, and a willingness to offer what I’ve been given back to God.
This journal grows from the same place. I believe our homes matter—not because they must be perfect or impressive, but because they quietly form us. A home does not need to be minimal to be peaceful, nor full to be rich. It needs order, intention, and room for life as it actually is. Especially for families, the home can become a small domestic church—a place where beauty supports prayer, rest, and belonging.
When I’m not working or tending to family life, I’m usually reading with a cup of coffee, spending time in our small garden, attempting watercolor, or reading aloud to my children for as long as they’ll sit still. I love both the energy of cities and the stillness of nature, and I believe we are made for something beyond ourselves.
I’m glad you’re here. My hope is that The Fiat Journal becomes a place of thoughtful reflection—a quiet companion that encourages attentiveness, discernment, and a deeper love for beauty in everyday life.
Welcome to the Fiat Journal.
xo,
Katie
